 VGA Drivers - Driver Computer | VGA drivers, life changing computer technology of the past. VGA or Video Graphics Array were once thought of as high tech devices. Only 28 years ago the computer images were seen in black and white only.

In was in 1981 that IBM introduced us to the world of color within our computer monitors. The Color Graphic Adapter (CGA) with a palette of 8 colors and a resolution of 640x280 was born. Soon after this came out improvements came quickly afterward such as double the color and a resolution of 640x350.

Six years later, in 1987, VGA was up to 32 colors and a resolution of 640x480. Computer users were very pleased with the quality they were receiving from VGA. With the rapid increase of new technology coming up VGA was quickly out done with others that were capable of over 65000 colors, and very high resolutions.

Also widescreen displays were becoming more popular creating WXGA (Wide Extended Graphic Array). Even with all the new technologic information, VGA was kept as a default video graphic when your computer is booting up in "safe mode" because it is unable to access the standard graphics while in the protection mode.

That is why we see the black and white large, blurry font. It definitely catches your attention when you see this, as it is very different than what we are use to. At the rate computer technology is going today, VGA will soon become part of our computers graphic history. Maybe what we see as the standard graphics now will become what we see when booting up in "safe mode".
